Would you like to visit Teamwork?

Teamwork has a building with 24 rooms that can accommodate groups of various sizes. This building has a meeting room and kitchen. Meals can also be provided by Teamwork. Over the years many groups have come from other countries to minister both at Teamwork and at other places in Jamaica. Teamwork can assist your group in planning a visit including: ministry opportunities at Teamwork (construction, landscaping, building maintenance & painting, teaching), ministry opportunities elsewhere (visiting orphanages, prisons, senior citizen facilities, street ministries), and sightseeing and enjoying the beaches. Teamwork can help plan an itinerary that includes combinations of all of these. All who have visited Jamaica and Teamwork have said that it was a life changing experience. Church groups, Sunday School classes, students looking for a different type of Spring Break trip, and others should contact Teamwork’s Hospitality Director using the phone number or email address shown at the bottom of the Home Page.

Below is a short summary of a recent visit by members of two churches in New Jersey.

Blessings to all from the returning Jamaican team. On January 12th, 22 team members assembled to do God’s bidding with the precious people of Jamaica. Half the team were men interested in doing construction. However the funds we sent to buy the materials had not yet reached Jamaica prior to our arrival. Although there was some disappointment in the group, everyone jumped on the bus for a visit to the first orphanage, Robin’s Nest. This Christian based children’s home had just relocated up in the mountains to a spacious home that God provided.

A team from Minnesota was in the process of laying a cement walk but would be unable to finish as they were going home the next day. Our men were able to jump in and finish the walk. Had they stayed behind at Teamwork, who knows when this vital task would have been completed. God’s timing... He knew. God provided similar opportunities throughout the week for our team to be used.

Again, because our team came with open hands, it was beautiful. First timers were changed.... melted by the need of a child. Each of us was touched as the Lord allowed us to fulfill his Holy words: “ For I was hungry and you fed me: I was thirsty and you gave me water: I was a stranger and you invited me into your homes: naked and you clothed me; sick and in prison, and you visited me.” (Matt 25:35,36) How prophetic these words were as we brought clothing, diapers, toiletries and a compassionate spirit. Our team was humbled by the beauty of these precious people. God filled us up as we loved the unlovely. It was a sight to behold and a blessing received.

Five team members were under eighteen and five were over fifty-five but our God used each of us right where we were. Back at Teamwork the men did do some work on the site of the church addition and the women painted inside the school. Two team members taught in Teamwork School.

The team had evening devotions led by Mike Chapman, a youth pastor. This was his first trip out of the U.S., and he was mesmerized by the natural beauty of Jamaica as well as the warmth of the people.

The Jamaican people were receptive to our street ministry in Montego Bay. Many rededicated themselves to the Lord and there were numerous first time conversions. Most of our team had never “cold canvassed” an area before... God was faithful... as we showed up, He supplied the “thirsty” people. Team member comments of being uncomfortable fell away as God drew the Jamaican people to us.

It was an “eye-opening” experience as well as a faith producing one. The week was a whirlwind of activity...serving and being served. It was purely a Jamaican experience orchestrated by God.
